Discovered digital creative tools through Photoshop & early audio multi-tracking applications, dabbled in motion and early 3D tools, learned HTML and built rudimentary interactive experiences with JavaScript.
Began to discover the online design community. Inspired by a growing community of interactive designers and artists like Joshua Davis / Praystation, I embraced Flash 4 as viable creative platform.
Gave myself a rigorous education in Graphic Design by emailing admired designers and asking them for advice and reading lists.
2000-2003
Cloudspace
Designer
Landed the job that started my career. Spent the next several years doing what young designers do - tackling a variety of clients and problems, making mistakes, and growing. I began to build a career as an interactive designer, focusing on richly interactive Flash websites and demos.
2003-2004
Learnit Corp.
Interactive Designer
Got “the second job” - the one you get when you need to see what’s out there, understand where you are in your growth, and see what kinds of other processes organizations use. Created many interactive software demos for training users on how to use popular productivity application, and launched a full flash demo of Microsoft Media Center.
Began to take 3D very seriously and learned Maya from DVD libraries.
2004 - 2006
Anark
3D Interactive Designer
Got a dream job that combined my two greatest loves at this point, 3D and Flash, with a startup that was creating an early realtime 3D authoring environment, Anark Studio. As an interactive designer in their services department, I was a part of creating realtime 3D experiences for the web for Warner Brothers / The Matrix Online, and Realtime Visualization and Configuration tools for Boeing, Cessna, Panasonic and others.
2006 - 2015
Mondo Robot
Art Director >
Creative Director
When the creative leadership from Anark split and started a new agency, I joined. Mondo Robot would prove to be one of the hardest and most satisfying changes in my life. With a heavy focus on concept, we worked hard to create impressive digital experiences across a spectrum of platforms and audiences.
Over time I found myself a Creative Director, making strong strategic creative decisions and mentoring others, while still finding a place within the organization to single-hand motion works and 3D interactive pieces for Digital Globe, Comcast Business and Warner Brothers.
2015 - 2019
Pennsylvania Academy
of the Fine Arts
Undergraduate Certificate
15 years after starting my career, I went on a sabbatical. I went to art school to be a painter. I learned that painting doesn’t really bring to the table all that I have to bear, and instead created VR experiences and software controlled sculpture.
2016-2021
Fused
Creative Director / UX Leader
Began a relationship with sales training company Fused to help correct a long injustice that corporations commit to their people in the form of bad presentations. Focused on improving the quality and usability of their materials for the first couple of years - primarily through animation and motion graphics.
Jan 2021
Human Factors Int.
UX / UCA
Certificate
Earned a UX certification with Human Factors International.
Launched a campaign to transform Fused into a UX focused business, motivated by a need to bring humane materials to the workforce and to follow better rationale in our product creation strategy.
Fall 2021 - Present
Mondo Robot
Design Director
Returned to an evolved Mondo Robot in a Design Director role for a now mature Product Development agency.
